The phoenix is an ancient mythical bird that symbolizes renewal, rebirth, resurrection and hope. As the legend goes, the phoenix lived for 500 years; as it neared the end of its life, it set its nest on fire being consumed by the flames. From the pile of its own ashes, a new phoenix arose—young and powerful. It was through her own battle and ultimate victory over alcoholism that Phoenix Associates founder Donna Stout gave birth to the idea of starting her own counseling practice. After completing her graduate studies and obtaining her professional counseling license she opened the doors to Phoenix in 1995. Through the years Phoenix Associates has been a leader in providing outpatient treatment to the criminal justice communities. Partnering with U.S. Probation, the Bureau of Prisons and the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Phoenix has reached thousands of individuals by helping them find true freedom from addiction.
